From question to dinner.
- Ask for what you need. "Something cosy, under 30 minutes" or "one pan, no oven". Your diet and allergies are already set, so you don't have to repeat them.
- Pick by time. Each idea shows the time, calories and difficulty, so you can see what fits tonight.
- Shop fast if you need to. Ingredients land on your list, grouped by aisle.
- Cook along. Cook mode shows one step at a time with timers built in, reads the steps aloud and shows how each step should look, so you aren't scrolling with floury hands.
Weeknight ideas to ask for.
"Something cosy, under 30 minutes"
Think burrata orzo with roasted tomatoes, or a quick Thai green curry.
"One tray, hardly any washing up"
A halloumi and veg traybake, or harissa salmon with chickpeas. Everything goes in the oven at once.
"Fridge raid, no shop"
Snap your fridge and Chefie builds dinner around what you already have. See what to cook with what you have.
"Something the kids will eat"
Milder, familiar dishes, like chicken shawarma bowls that everyone builds for themselves.
Tell it the time.
Get three ideas.
Type it like you would text a friend. Chefie comes back with three recipes that fit your diet, your time and your kitchen.
- Ask by voice or text
- Time, calories and difficulty up front
- Change anything: lighter, fewer pans

Tips for faster weeknights.
- Get everything out first. Measure and chop before the hob goes on. It feels slower and it is always faster.
- Boil the kettle. Pasta and noodle water comes to the boil much faster from a kettle.
- Cut small. Smaller pieces of veg and meat cook more quickly.
- Let the timers do the counting. Cook mode counts down the rice while you get on with the sauce.
- Cook double. Tonight's leftovers are tomorrow's lunch.
- Keep a few staples in. Tinned tomatoes and chickpeas, pasta, rice, eggs and a jar of curry paste turn into dinner fast.
What makes a dinner quick?
It's rarely the cooking time on its own. A quick dinner has few ingredients to prep, uses one pan or one tray, and doesn't need you standing over it. Fish, eggs, thin strips of meat, tofu, pasta, noodles and couscous all cook fast. Big cuts, dried beans and anything braised are better for the weekend. When you ask Chefie, say what quick means to you, like "20 minutes, one pan" or "10 minutes of hands-on time", and the ideas follow.
Chefie adds new recipes every week, so there is always something new to try. Browse recipes, or see our high-protein dinners guide.
Good questions.
How quick are the recipes?
Tell Chefie how long you have, like "under 20 minutes", and it suggests recipes to fit. Every idea shows its time up front, so you can check before you start.
Can I save recipes for later in the week?
Yes. Save any recipe to your recipes and add its ingredients to your shopping list, so the week's dinners are ready to go.
Will it work with what I already have?
Yes. Scan your fridge or type what you have, and Chefie suggests recipes that use it.
How much does it cost?
Chefie is a subscription app. The annual plan starts with 7 days free for new subscribers, and there's also a weekly plan with no trial. Both include everything. See plans and prices.
