Deepskim Ltd
Effective: 18 May 2026
Last updated: 18 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Deepskim Ltd ("Deepskim", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use ChefieAI (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
We are registered in England and Wales. Questions about this policy may be directed to contact.chefieai.app.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: When you create an account via Apple Sign In or Google, we receive your name (if you choose to share it) and email address from the authentication provider.
- Dietary and health preferences: Allergens, dietary restrictions, food dislikes, cooking skill level, and nutritional goals you choose to enter. This information is used solely to personalise your experience.
- Cooking activity: Recipes you save, lists you create, shopping lists, and meals you log. This stays within your account.
- Chat and fridge scan content: Messages you send to the AI assistant and photos you choose to share. Photos are processed transiently and are not stored beyond the immediate session unless a recipe image is generated and saved to your account.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: How you interact with the App — which screens you visit, features you use, session duration. Used to improve the App.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and App version. Used for compatibility and crash diagnosis.
- Crash and error reports: Technical diagnostic data when the App encounters an error. Not linked to your identity.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect or store payment card details. All subscription payments are processed by Apple through the App Store.
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- App personalisation: Your dietary preferences, allergens, and cooking history are used to tailor recipe suggestions and AI responses to you.
- AI-powered features: Your messages, photos, and profile context are used to generate responses via third-party artificial intelligence services. See Section 4 for more detail.
- Account management: Your email is used to maintain your account and send essential service communications (not marketing).
- Service improvement: Aggregated, anonymised usage data helps us understand how the App is used and where it can be improved.
- Safety and compliance: We may use data as necessary to comply with legal obligations or to prevent fraud and abuse.
3. Allergen and Health Data
Allergen and dietary preference data is treated with particular care. It is used exclusively to personalise the App experience and is never shared with advertisers or used for any commercial purpose beyond providing the service.
Under UK GDPR, this category of data is treated as sensitive personal data. We process it only on the basis of your explicit consent, provided when you enter it during onboarding. You may update or delete this information at any time from your profile settings.
Important: while the App uses your allergen information to filter and personalise content, AI systems can make errors. Always verify ingredient information independently when cooking for someone with a serious allergy or medical dietary requirement.
4. Third-Party Services and AI Processing
ChefieAI uses third-party artificial intelligence services to power recipe generation, the conversational cooking assistant, and image generation features. When you interact with these features, your messages and relevant profile context are transmitted to these services for processing.
These AI services are bound by data processing agreements with us. Your data is processed only to generate a response and is not used by third parties to train their models or for any purpose beyond fulfilling your request.
We also use the following third-party services:
- Apple: Apple Sign In and the App Store handle authentication and all subscription billing. Apple's privacy policy applies to data processed by Apple.
- Google: Google Sign In is available as an authentication option. Google's privacy policy applies to data processed during sign-in.
- Cloud infrastructure: Our backend services and databases are hosted on secure third-party cloud infrastructure. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Image hosting: Recipe images are stored on a third-party cloud media platform with industry-standard security.
We do not disclose the specific names of our AI or infrastructure providers as this forms part of our proprietary technical architecture. All providers are contractually bound to process your data only as instructed and in accordance with applicable data protection law.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data (including dietary preferences, saved recipes, and conversation history) is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained for analytical purposes.
Crash and error logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days.
6. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: Correct inaccurate data. Most profile information can be updated directly in the App.
- Erasure: Delete your account and all associated personal data. Available in the App under Profile → Delete Account.
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
- Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent for sensitive data processing at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact.chefieai.app. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are dissatisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
7. Children
ChefieAI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
