Chefie AI Privacy Policy

Chefie AI is provided by Deepskim Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us"), and is offered in the UK and the US.
The short version
- We collect what we need to cook with you: your Apple sign-in, food preferences, and what you ask, save and cook.
- Allergies and diets are only stored if you switch that on. Switch it off and we delete them.
- To make recipes, we send your request and food preferences to AI service providers. We don't send your name or email, and they may not use your data to train their models.
- We don't sell your data, share it for advertising or show ads.
- You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete account.
- Chefie AI is for adults (18+).
Always check the food yourself. Recipes, ingredients, nutrition, allergen, diet and dislike tags are made by AI and can be wrong or incomplete. Chefie's filtering is an aid, not a guarantee. Check every ingredient and product label, especially for allergies and intolerances. See our Terms.

We don't collect your precise location, contacts, browsing history or advertising ID, and we don't use Apple Health.
2. Why we use it

We don't send marketing emails. If that changes, we'll ask first.
3. Allergies, diets and health information
Allergies, intolerances and health-related diets are health data, and some diets (such as halal or kosher) can reveal beliefs. We only use them with your explicit consent.
- The "Use my allergies and diet" switch is off until you turn it on.
- We use this data only to filter recipes and tell the AI what to avoid. Never for advertising.
- Switch it off at any time in Profile → Data & privacy. We delete your saved allergies and diets straight away.
- Health details you mention in chat are treated like any other chat message. Only share what you're comfortable with.
4. How AI is used
Chefie's recipes, answers, scans, imports, pictures and read-aloud are made with AI. We send our AI service providers your message or photo, the recipe you're working on, and the context that makes the answer fit you (food preferences, household, and allergies and diets if you allowed them).
- We never send your name, email, Apple Account or payment details.
- Pictures and read-aloud are made from recipe text only.
- The AI providers that receive your messages and photos may not use them to train their models. They may keep them for up to 30 days to detect abuse, then delete them. Other service providers that help create pictures, read steps aloud or fetch the pages you share receive only the recipe or step text, a reply being read aloud, or the link itself. They keep it under their own retention rules, which can differ from the 30 days above.
- Dictation is handled by Apple. We only receive the text.
- AI isn't used to make decisions about you that have legal or similar effects.
Only authorised staff can access your data, and only when needed.
5. Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers who act on our instructions under contract:
- AI service providers
- cloud hosting and storage providers
- image generation and hosting providers
- services that fetch public pages and posts you ask us to import
- push notification delivery
- app update delivery (a random install ID that we don't link to your account)
- crash reporting
- email providers
Each gets only what it needs. We can give you a list of our current providers on request at deepskim.ltd@gmail.com.
Apple handles sign-in, payments, subscriptions, notification delivery and dictation under its own privacy policy.
We may also share data if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or if Deepskim Ltd is sold (we'd tell you first). We don't use advertising or tracking tools.
Your data may be processed in the UK, the US and other countries where our providers operate, with safeguards required by UK law.
6. Sharing recipes and lists
- Recipe links: anyone with the link can see the recipe and your first name. We count opens, not who opened it. Links work until you stop sharing or delete your account.
- Shopping list links: anyone with the link can see the list and your first name, and tick or add items under their own first name. Links expire after 14 days. Your allergies and diets are never shown.

Deleting your account removes your data straight away, turns off your share links and disconnects Sign in with Apple. It doesn't cancel your subscription: do that in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and access is limited to people who need it. If a breach is likely to put you at high risk, we'll tell you promptly.
9. Your rights in the UK
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you can access, correct, delete or get a portable copy of your data, restrict or object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time.
Email deepskim.ltd@gmail.com from the address on your account. It's free, and we'll reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
10. Your rights in the US
We give these rights to all US users, whatever your state.
- What we collect: identifiers, your plan, app activity, scanned photos, inferred food preferences, and sensitive data (allergies, health-related diets, beliefs shown by diets) with your consent. It comes from you, your device, Apple and pages you import, and is used and kept as in sections 2 and 7.
- We don't sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, and we honour Global Privacy Control. Sensitive data is used only to provide the service.
- Your rights: to know, access, correct and delete your data, without being treated differently. Email deepskim.ltd@gmail.com and we'll respond within 45 days. An authorised agent can ask for you with your signed permission.
- Appeals: if we refuse, reply with "Appeal" in the subject line. We'll respond within 45 days. You can also contact your state attorney general.
- Health data: see our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy (Washington, Nevada, Connecticut and all US users).
11. Our website
When you visit chefieai.app or a shared page, our hosting and font providers receive your IP address and browser type. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. A shared list shows the first name you type next to items you add or tick. We store that name with the list, and your browser remembers it for next time. If you join the Android waitlist, we use your email only to tell you when Chefie AI is on Android.
12. Children
Chefie AI is for people aged 18 and over. If you think a child has an account, email us and we'll delete it. Children's ages you give us are used only to suggest suitable recipes.
13. Changes
We'll tell you in the app before any important change takes effect.
