How Chefie checks recipes.
- Set your allergies and diet. Choose them when you set up Chefie, or later in Profile. Chefie only stores them if you switch that on, and switching it off deletes them.
- Ask, scan or import as usual. Every recipe Chefie makes, and every reel or link you import, is checked against what you have set.
- Swap in one tap. If you would rather avoid something, swap it. The swap shows on the recipe, like cream swapped for Greek yoghurt.
- Check before you cook. Read the label on everything you buy, every time.
Diets and allergies you can set.
These are some of the options. You will see the full list when you set up.
AI can make mistakes. Always check labels.
Ingredients vary by brand and change over time. Chefie helps you find and adapt recipes. It is not a guarantee, and it can't know about cross-contact in a factory or kitchen. If you have a serious allergy, follow the advice of your doctor or allergy specialist.
A worked example.
You have set dairy-free and nut-free, and ask for "a creamy pasta for two"
Ideas are checked to leave out dairy and nuts. So instead of double cream or a cashew sauce, you might get one made with blended white beans, olive oil and lemon, with the swaps shown on the recipe. Before you cook, you still check the labels on the pasta, the stock and anything else that comes in a packet.
Reading labels in the UK.
On prepacked food sold in the UK, the 14 major allergens have to be emphasised in the ingredients list, often in bold. They are celery, cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, soya, and sulphur dioxide and sulphites.
- Check every time you buy. Recipes change, so a product that was fine last month might not be now.
- Take "may contain" seriously. These warnings are voluntary and mean the maker can't rule out cross-contact.
- Watch the usual hiding places. Stock cubes, sauces, spice mixes and ready-made pastry can contain gluten, milk, mustard, celery or sesame.
- Keep a clean prep space. Wash boards, knives and hands before cooking for someone with an allergy.
- Tell Chefie if something slips through. If a recipe has something you can't eat, don't cook it, and email deepskim.ltd@gmail.com with the recipe name so we can fix it.

Good questions.
Can I rely on Chefie for a serious allergy?
No, not on its own. Chefie checks recipes against the allergies and diets you set, but AI can make mistakes and ingredients vary by brand. Always check labels, and follow the advice of your doctor or allergy specialist.
Which diets can I set?
Options include nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, vegetarian, halal, kosher, Jain and low-FODMAP. You will see the full list when you set up.
What happens to my allergy information?
Chefie only stores your allergies and diets if you switch that on, and switching it off deletes them. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising. Read the Privacy Policy.
Are imported recipes checked too?
Yes. Reels and links you import are adjusted for your allergies and diet. Check the ingredients and labels before you cook, as with any recipe.
